Brand Manager

Living Proof is seeking a Brand Manager. This position is responsible for working with the team on new product development and product launch processes, packaging development and coordination with manufacturing, concept development, competitive analysis, timeline management, consumer testing, pricing strategy, promotional strategy, education, public relations and collateral support.

Responsibilities

  • New Product Development: Direct product development on the creation of new SKUs within our product portfolio, including overall market and competitive review, concept development, benchmark review and recommendation, claims analysis, recommended usage, sizing, pricing and packaging. Within the team, oversee timeline management to ensure that all key dates are met in the launch of the new product. Test and review each submission from product development and give iterative feedback. Work with the test salon as needed to evaluate trial of product on consumers. Participate in and run, as needed, the cross functional launch teams. Oversee all comp development of new products including development, photography, and providing materials to PR agencies and retail partners.
  • Marketing Plan: Oversee various marketing plan elements including: (1) Sampling: help determine sampling plans and execute packaging and artwork; (2) In Store Events: coordinate with Retail Marketing and Sales Teams to make sure they have necessary resources to hold in-store events such as posters, PR coverage, samples, and gift bags; (3) Merchandising: work with Retail Marketing to determine retailer merchandising layouts (4) Education: ensure education team has all relevant information for upcoming product launches to create education materials; (5) Digital: review all product related copy on website.
  • Artwork Management: Work with packaging engineers and creative designers to brief artwork development including all copy related to performance, claims, and usage. Work with Research and Development and Regulatory to ensure all copy is globally compliant. Work with translation house to translate into all required languages. Manage and review artwork submissions, proofs and approval process within Living Proof.
  • Consumer and Market Research: Manage all consumer related research on product line including: defining screener, preparing questionnaires, finalizing usage instructions, and managing all logistics such as labeling and shipping product. Analyze data and report findings to team. Other research includes tracking online consumer reviews and distilling relevant market data from resources like Mintel into presentations.
  • Presentations: Maintain marketing plan and other marketing and sales decks. Summarize marketing data and initiatives for Advisor and Board meetings.
  • Customer Service: Work with Customer Service to develop all FAQs and conduct trainings on new products.
  • Competitive Research: On an ongoing basis, analyze all relevant competitive information on Sephora, Ulta, Nordstrom, prestige retailers, Salons and Mass and provide recommendations for key competitive benchmarks, trends to watch and new product ideas.

Assistant Manager Package Development

This is an entry level position in a growing, fast paced hair and skin care consumer products company. This role will assist with the development of packaging for new product launches, and with the responsibility of on-going maintenance of regular business packaging.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and approve blueprints and drawings for primary and secondary packaging.
  • Develop and Issue all Specifications for new and existing programs. Manage Specification Data Base.
  • Coordinate and manage two external package testing labs and carry out specified tests in internal lab, analyze and present results. Keep package testing log updated and issue reports.
  • Prepare internal package development timelines with key development milestones-monitor and report progress.
  • Develop preliminary packaging cost options for new product launches and promotional programs.
  • Review and set Quality criteria and ranges for packaging components and master standards. Issue all standards to external partners and maintain standards log.

Qualifications and Relevant Experience

  • BS in Package Engineering, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering
  • 1-2 years experience in package development or with a supplier of packaging. Will consider recent graduate if candidate had a meaningful internship in a consumer products company.

Research Associate II (Analytical/QA)

This is an important new role for Living Proof Analytical/QA. The primary goal of the role will be to support quality approval of all products manufactured globally for Living Proof at all contract manufacturing organizations. Secondarily the role will also support analytical research for new product development.

Key areas of responsibility include:

Support Living Proof’s Quality Assurance Program to oversee all CMO Production. Role includes but is not limited to

  • Receive and log all incoming finished product samples and proprietary raw materials from various manufacturing facilities
  • Conduct chemical and physical analysis of incoming finished product samples and proprietary raw materials. Instrumentation includes HPLC, GPC, FTIR, FTNIR, NMR, and GC/MS. Physical analysis includes color, odor, appearance, pH, viscosity, and specific gravity
  • Manage all aspects of quality related issues in Production including partnering with Product Development to investigate out-of-specification results and prepare corrective action and preventative action (CAPA) documentation as appropriate with the CMO
  • Maintain and clean laboratory testing equipment and machinery
  • Troubleshoot and correct any inefficiencies of the laboratory testing equipment

Support cGMP for production and Research and Development programs

  • Assists in writing SOP’s, protocols, validation plans and compliance documents for cGMP program as appropriate
  • Performs internal audits and ensures observations are corrected
  • Sets-up and tracks material flow and material-labeling process to ensure compliance with cGMP program
  • Sets-up and organizes tracking program for equipment used in cGMP work
  • Plans and maintains a calibration schedule for all laboratory testing equipment as well as maintaining calibration logs
  • With Regulatory, ensure compliance to Federal, State, International and local regulations and customer requirements

Professional Characteristics:

  • B.S. Degree in Chemistry or equivalent with a minimum of 2 years relevant industry experience.
  • At least 2 years of work experience in quality control and assurance - preferably in the field of personal care, cosmetics, health care household products
  • Proficient in the use of basic laboratory instruments/apparatus and perform applicable analysis and test methods. At a minimum demonstrates working knowledge of HPLC, GPC and IR

Sr. Retail Sales Associate

We are seeking a Sr. Retail Sales Associate to join the Living Proof family. This role will lead the opening and ongoing management of our headquarters-based retail space. The Sr. Retail Sales Associate will work towards the goal of maximizing retail sales through consultative selling, merchandising techniques and customer service. She/he possesses a complete understanding of company policies, philosophy and vision. This is a contractor position, working 40-50 hours per week.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and make a connection with customers
  • Cultivate a relationship with customers by asking questions, listening to customer needs, and giving options and advice on meeting those needs
  • Follow company policies and utilize sound judgment to resolve customer concerns; handle all returns courteously and professionally
  • Maintain selling floor presentations, and restocking and re-merchandising them as needed
  • Ensure merchandise is on the floor within 24 hours of receipt, in a well organized and easy to shop manner

Contract Package Development Assistant (part-time)

Living Proof, Inc has an immediate need for a part-time contract Package Development Assistant. The incumbent will manage the administrative aspects of our packaging team and is expected to work up to 20 hours per week, approximately 4-5 hours daily.

Responsibilities

  • Daily retrieval and return of components to Packaging Development storage facility/cage
  • General organization and maintenance of storage cage
  • Manage Package Development components standards storage
  • Ship approve packaging standards to component suppliers and third party fillers
  • Ship components/bulk to outside package testing labs
  • Manage and track outgoing components in order to fill line trials for new launches and identify all returned filled parts from line trials
  • Apply labels to PR and CUT samples from line trials
  • Develop new die lines/pricing for all PR and CUT labels for new launches
  • Manage package development master tracking of all International Labels: Aerosol labels, 7 panel bottom labels, Discovery Kit labels
  • Provide Marketing / PR with components for photography and comps from packaging standards
