Thinking about going on spring break? Traveling to another part of the world involves a lot more than just packing the right clothes for the right climate; it affects your hair as well. What should you watch out for?
Humidity
- The influx of water vapor from high humidity can cause the hair fibers to swell, creating extended cuticles which results in friction between fibers. That’s why your hair gets so big and frizzy in humid weather.
- The PolyfluoroEster in Living Proof’s No Frizz line provides a humidity-blocking shield that covers the hair shaft to keep frizz under control while also repelling dirt so if you’re going somewhere with high humidity, make sure you bring your No Frizz! Tip: if you’re worried about travel-size regulations, bring the No Frizz 4-Piece Kit instead!
Types of Water
- Water can be classified as “hard” or “soft” depending on the level of divalent ions in the water. The higher the concentration of divalent ions, the harder the water.
- “Hard” water—contains a considerable amount of dissolved minerals, primarily consisting of calcium and magnesium. Hard water can interfere with the ability of some shampoos to lather and it could also leave behind a slight residue. If you feel as if you’re style isn’t holding up as well as it used to back home, this is probably why.
- “Soft” water –water in which the only cation (positively charged ion) is sodium. This is the type of water that comes from peat or igneous rock sources.
Living Proof scientists took the different types of water into account and made sure that their products handle whatever water and climate you encounter. In general, the more you use No Frizz, the better the result. In high humidity climates, you may need to use a lot over several days to see the same benefit as at home.
