1960s hairMany women get inspiration for their hairstyles from television and movies. In the last couple of years, the retro look of Mad Men has become incredibly popular with even bloggers analyzing the looks of each episode! After all, who wouldn’t want to look like Marilyn Monroe or Grace Kelly? Here are step-by-step instructions on how to create the classically elegant Betty Draper look:

What you will need:

Instructions:

  1. Towel-dry clean hair, comb with wide-tooth comb, and evenly part into 2 or 3 sections.
  2. Apply a pea-size amount (or smaller if you have medium to fine hair) of Full Thickening Cream to each section and comb through.
  3. Create sub-sections about ¼ inch thick. Section by section, position the brush under your hair and start as close to the roots as possible. Start drying from root to end making sure to point the nozzle downward while drying. This will help prevent frizz and fly-aways while styling. Repeat until each sub-section is dry.
  4. Now separate your hair into four large sections and apply large barrel curlers to each section. If you’re using heated curlers let sit for 15 minutes but if you’re using Velcro rollers, heat for about 10 minutes.
  5. Remove rollers, tip head up-side down, and shake.
  6. Once all curlers are removed, begin brushing the curls out with a paddle brush. Place the brush under a section of hair and comb down in direction of curl while placing one hand on top of section to help keep a smooth look.
  7. Tuck one side behind ear and secure with bobby pins.
  8. Finish with Hold Flexible Hairspray!

*Tip for long-haired ladies: Tuck some of the curls under and secure with bobby pins to achieve a shoulder length effect.
