Dr. David Puerta, Principal Scientist, Hair Discovery

Hi Everyone,

Let me introduce myself. My name is David and I am one of the scientists at Living Proof. During my time here, I’ve had the pleasure to work with the team that discovered and developed the technology behind the No Frizz products.

I wanted to open this post to for those who have technical/scientific questions surrounding No Frizz. So, if you have any questions or comments, I would love to answer them (unless the information is top secret).

I look forward to hearing from you,

David

On the second day of treatment and I am speechless. Wow! My question is this: After the recommended five days of consecutive treatment, is it necessary to apply the product after every washing? How often is the treatment needed to maintain the results after the first initial five days?

  • Lisa

    Hi-
What? I’m suppossed to use it for 5 consecutive days? where did that come from? does that mean you are to wash your hair 5 straight days? or just use the spray on non-shampooed hair for 5 days?

    thanks again,
    Lisa

  • robrobceo

Lisa, no worries. You are supposed to use No Frizz after each time you shampoo, not for 5 consecutive days. Treat No Frizz just like any other styling product vs. a regimented treatment. Give us a call at 866-240-9933 if you have any questions at all.

    Hi again, Rob-
    1. Does No Frizz has a cumulative effect? Meaning the more you use it, the better it works? If so, would I use less product each time I wash my hair?
    2. Can I use the No Frizz Treatment on dry hair (non shampoo days) in stead of the spray?

    3. I have seen other posts that complain about dryness and that has been a problem for me as well, but I am willing to keep trying the product, especially if it has that “cumulative effect”. Do you have any other suggestions, other than using a leave in conditioner, to combat the dryness?

    thanks again!

    Lisa

has this been tested to be safe to use?

  • The Living Proof Team

    Hi Denise,

The team here at Living Proof puts safety as the very top priority, and we will not launch a product unless we are confident that it is safe for consumers to use. Not only are we an active member of the Personal Care Products Council (PCPC), the guiding association for the Personal Care Industry, but our safety studies are so extensive that we exceed the high standards that they set for its member companies. If you’d like to know more about their standards, check out their Consumer Commitment Code at:

How environmentally safe is No Frizz? Does the polyfluoroester biodegrade? How about the rest of the ingredients?

Thanks for the forum and chance to ask questions!

  • Collene

I have just started using Ojon Tunu Elastik Shampoo and conditioner and am happy with the results. I have also purchased No Frizz for my crazy hair. I am wondering if it is ok to use these two products together? Thanks!

  • The Living Proof Team

Hi Collene- it is just fine if you use your No Frizz after shampooing & conditioner with Ojon Tunu Elastik Shampoo & Conditioner, however for the best frizz free results we do recommend using your No Frizz with our No Frizz Shampoo & No Frizz Conditioner. Our Shampoo & Conditioner blocks humidity and weightlessly moisturizes without sulfates, silicones or oils.

  • Vicki

After almost two weeks of perfect results (with lower than normal humidity levels where I live), I started noticing not-so-great results. I’ve tried a combination of cream and spray and its a little better, but I’m wondering if I need to use the heavy-duty cream during very high humidity or if another product I am using is ruining the results? I’ve read everywhere not to mix silicone products with No Frizz, however, it’s difficult to decipher the ingredients in everything from shampoos to styling products. Are there key words to look for to determine if silicone is in a product?

  • The Living Proof Team

    Hi Vicki,

The treatment has the same effectiveness level as the sprays and creams – it’s simply more hydrating. That being said, your spray/cream combo sounds like it should work. Just be sure you’re using enough to fully saturate the hair when damp after the shower.

As for your other products – the only product you should avoid are the heavy silicone serums. Other products with silicone like your rinse-out conditioner shouldn’t affect your style. However, if you want to go silicone free, try our new No Frizz Shampoo & Conditioner. It works with No Frizz stylers as a system and the results using the whole system are even better than using the styler alone. For more helpful tips and tricks feel free to give us a call at 1-866-240-9933 and we’d be happy to speak to you at greater length.

I love the products, but they have an odd odor that is unpleasant. I can’t tell if the odor lingers so that others can smell it on my hair, but it worries me that it might. Could a natural fragrance be added? It occurs to me that grapefruit / lemongrass would integrate with the odor and disguise it.
If I added the essential oils myself, would that effect the performance of the product?

I have a question about the interaction of Protein Reconstructors and No Frizz.

My hair is fine, thin to medium density, curly and porous with low elasticity. I’ve been trying to increase the health of my hair by going no poo which has helped alot. I would like to know if No Frizz would accentuate my Protein reconstructor. Would there be any weird interaction with the protein treatment used before the No Frizz cream?

  • The Living Proof Team

Hi Deb – thanks for your question. There should not be a compatibility issue between No Frizz and any products containing protein. Give it a try and let us know how you like it.

Thanks for posting about this, I would like to read more about this topic.

  • Carolyn

No one ever answered my July 1 question: How environmentally safe is No Frizz? Does the polyfluoroester biodegrade? How about the rest of the ingredients? So I will try posting again. Thanks

  • robrobceo

Carolyn, I so sorry for the delay in our response. Living proof places a high level of importance on the Safety, Efficacy and potential Environmental Impact of all its products. So we carefully selected the chemical and physical proprieties of our proprietary No Frizz humidity controlling active ingredient, PolyfluoroEster, to deliver breakthrough performance and not impact the environment. The active is not considered a persistent or bioaccumulative material by the EPA. Please let us know if you have any other questions.

  • Natalie

I have been using it for a while and it seems to work, but I bought the fine to medium hair straightening spray and think that I might need the medium to thick. I have a lot of hair and the diameter of my hair is between a dime size and nickel size. Would I need to switch to the medium to thick? I am thinking about buying the wave shaping? Also are the styling products heat resistant because I do straighten my hair often?

  • The Living Proof Team

    Hi Natalie,

We’re so glad you’re enjoying your No Frizz. The difference between the No Frizz Spray you are currently using and the No Frizz Cream is the level of conditioning. If you feel you need conditioning (the Spray has none) – you may want to try the Cream. As for the Wave Shaping, it contains a light level of hold to help define waves and curls. It can also be used on straight styles to hold shape. And lastly, No Frizz does help protect hair against heat styling. When hair is dry, spritz additional No Frizz Straight Spray before running your flat iron through your hair. This will help protect hair and make hair extra shiny and smooth. As always, please call us with any questions at 1-866-240-9933.

Where can I get the safety data sheet for No Frizz Styling Spray from?
I have been asked by my sister to send her some of this brilliant product but DHL will not carry it because they say it is flammable and say that they need a safety data sheet.
Thank you very much. It has given me a new lease of life and my sister is dying to get hold of it.

    xx
